ALF is a virtual AI companion that presents as a wisecracking sock-puppet/alien with a peculiarly 1980s aesthetic - oops, wait a sec. Wrong notes. Here we go: ALF is a graphical Windows front end for the freeware MP3 encoder LAME. (ALF stands for A LAME Front end.) ALF was developed in order to make the encoding of MP3 files easier than with a traditional DOS-based application. It features a drag and drop interface so all you need to do is drag any .wav file to the list to convert it.
