Description of CD Speed v3.1
Typically, your factory equipped CD-ROM player has two speeds: parked and totally floored. With the free CD Speed, however, you can set the maximum data transfer rate of your CD-ROM drive and thus limit compact disk rotation speed. Most multimedia formats, like mpeg, divx, avi, mp3, and Real media, are designed to play for a long time by using low data transfer rates. When you lower data transfer rates it lowers disk rotation speed and noise level, increases readability - and ideally will extend your CD-ROM drive lifetime. Your settings will apply to all Windows applications that read data from CD. The program supports Microsoft Windows 95, 98, ME, Windows NT, Windows 2000 and most new CD-ROM drives.
