Strengths: Better than Windows utility. I benchmarked a defragmentation analyzation with Windows XP's defrag., then ran it. Had a lot of "red" left, mostly from a game that wouldn't clear up after uninstall. Brought in Diskeeper free trial, and all the red went away.
Weaknesses: The only thing I don't like is that, at least on my machine and settings, Disckeeper takes over the Windows utility. Not a big deal, but I would like to be able to compare defragmentation between the two utilities.
Overall Evaluation: I like the automatic daily, real-time defragmentation. Since running Disckeeper, I have noticed a definite increase in speed of access to files and programs, over having used Windows utility. I am currently running to the end of the free 30-day trail period, and would seriously consider purchasing it. In my opinion, Disckeeper is a far superior defragmentation tool to the Windows utility.

Strengths: Stable, fast defragging, great GUI, easy to use, low resource usage, smart automatic mode.
Weaknesses: Ability to defrag a single file would be great.
Overall Evaluation: Been using Diskeeper since the ver. 7 days, and it has improved with each new release. The best feature about the Pro 2007 version is the excellent automatic operation option. Simply set it and forget it, and Diskeeper will smartly defrag your drives in the background. Automatic defrag supposedly works on upto 4 volumes, but I havent had confirmed it since I have only two drives (unpartitioned) on my system. It uses some sort of 'intelligent' algorithm to determine when fragmentation has become a problem AND the system has enough free resources to defrag without affecting other programs. Whenever other processes need resources, diskeeper quietly withdraws and goes back to silent mode. Might sound like a lot of marketing spiel on paper, but works great in real life. This means you don't have to remember (or bother) to manually schedule a defrag for a time when the system is not in heavy use , Diskeeper does it automatically. However, should you choose to manually set a schedule, that option is available too - you can schedule the autodefrag for a specific date and time or for a specific weekly pattern. Laptop users also have the option to turn off automatic defrag when running on batteries to conserve power. Manual defrag jobs are simple and quick - the GUI lets you select the drives to defrag and by right-clicking you can choose the manual defrag properties such as I/O throttling and efficient defragmentation. Other settings such as boot-time properties can be modified from the configuration settings. All in all, I am very happy with the latest Diskeeper version. In my opinion this is the defragmenter with the best BALANCE of performance, speed, resource usage and ease of use currently available for Windows.
