Description of WipeDrive

Selling or donating your used computer is a great idea; giving away your personal data is not. This data removal tool overwrites your data, destroying it more effectively than reformatting can do. It permanently erases all data--even data in partition tables and different drive formats--from any size of hard drive, and it verifies that data has been erased. The U.S. Department of Defense lists WipeDrive as an approved disk-sanitizing tool for all government agencies.

This demo program creates a floppy disk that can erase 25% of your hard drive. The full program is available in a 20-computer license ($40) and an unlimited-use professional license ($100).
