Description of IMSecure Pro
Love the way your instant messenger lets you chat and send files quickly--and through a firewall? Hackers feel the same way. This instant-messaging security utility refuses to fall for the hackers' bag of tricks. It blocks buffer overflow attacks (like Slammer), IM-borne malicious code, and IM spam. It uses 56-bit DES encryption on IM conversations, audio, video, and files sent across (and received on) the three most popular IM services.
A feature called MyVault can protect you from yourself by blocking information you've flagged as confidential from leaving your computer over IM. Enter your confidential information into MyVault, where it's encrypted on your PC. If you (or anyone who sits at your PC while you're away) suddenly feels the urge to share, say, your Social Security number and bank account information to your new IM "friend," MyVault blocks the information from crossing IM and shows you a reminder that you've said you didn't want to share that info over IM.
This program works with AOL Instant Messenger (AIM), MSN Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger. Some features, like encryption, require that your conversational companion on the other end use either IMSecure Pro or its free version, IMSecure. The purchase price includes a one year's worth of updates and tech support. Annual renewal fee for an additional year of updates and tech support is $10.
