Description of A.F.5 Rename your files

Renaming a batch of files shouldn't take the same ear for poetry that Hesiod employed for naming the fifty daughters of Nereus in the 8th century B.C. This renaming utility can take a batch of filenames and alter all of them in one fell swoop. You can add a prefix or suffix, replace an outmoded string with something more useful, cut characters, and change file extensions. You can also change the capitalization and lowercase as you like.

Still not satisfied? A.F.5 can also generate new filenames, insert numerical and/or alphabetical counters, and add file attributes like creation date and file size. Whenever it builds new filenames, it lets you preview them and say yea or nay. It keeps a log of all your rename actions, lets you undo the last rename action, and allows you to save your favorite settings for renaming.

And if you really want to call your files Proto, Eukrante, Amphitrite, and forty-seven similarly euphonious names, you can import them from a text file.
