Strengths: it works with my former word and excel documents.

Weaknesses: figuring out initially which of the many parts of the program is the one needed for what you want to use it for.

Overall Evaluation: i love it! certainly beats buying the latest microsoft office when the old one crashe.

Strengths: Does a lot more than Microsoft Works. The price is right.

Weaknesses: I use Bullets a lot. This section needs more work

Overall Evaluation: Overall it is a great product

    Duration of ownership: 4 Years

Strengths: Ease of use, doesn't try to impose trendy styles, price

Weaknesses: Requires archaic Master Document for changing headers in sequential sections, i.e. book chapters

Overall Evaluation: M$ Office makes me nuts with graphics placement and captions. That's easier (but still not perfect) in OpenOffice. Beginning with M$ Office 2007, Microsoft has implemented trendy default styles that are going to visually shout a document's age, and altering the default template is not for the faint-hearted. At first glance I loved 2007, but quickly went back to my beloved workhorse, OpenOffice for 95% of my work.

    Duration of ownership: 4 Months

Strengths: Generally the same functions as Microsoft Office. Spreadsheet save icon changes when file needs to be saved which Office does not do.

Weaknesses: Some of the copy functions are not as easy to use as Office

Overall Evaluation: Very good but I have only used the spreadsheet so far.

    Duration of ownership: 2 Days

Strengths: This does everything MS office does, is a pretty fast download, and has very straight-forward UI. And of couse, it's free!

Weaknesses: The UI isn't as is polished as MS, can be a pain to your eyes after long periods of use.

Overall Evaluation: This is the best free office product out there, it contains everything you need. Not much features, just straightforward, and being straightforward it has no problems at all. It does everything MS office does, absolutely everything, just looks differnt and the UI is a bit hard to use, but after all, it's free!
