If you keep three IM windows open at any given time, you're dangerously near IM overload. Gaim is a universal instant messaging client that lets you keep track of your diverse contacts on their diverse IM networks--without keeping a window open for each of them. Gaim is compatible with the big three IM networks (AIM, MSN Messenger, and Yahoo), as well as ICQ, IRC, Jabber, and lesser known networks like Gadu-Gadu and Zephyr. Gaim supports many of the common features, such as away messages and typing notification. It also offers its own features, such as Buddy Pounces. Buddy Pounce lets you know when a specific buddy's status changes. This way, you can keep track of one important person--say, your boss--instead of learning of the comings and goings of everyone you know on the network.
