Here's a convenient, free way to find nearby hot spots when you need wireless access in a hurry. Run the program, enter your location (such as your zip code or city), and it lists all of the nearby hot spots. It will search for either paid or free hot spots, or both. The program's database is frequently updated, so you'll be getting an up-to-date list. Click on any hot spots it finds, and you'll get more information about the hot spot. For example, if it's a for-pay provider, you'll be able to see who owns it. You'll also be given basic information about the hot spot, such as its SSID, pricing plan, and so on. And you can also display a map, showing you the hot spot, so you can easily head there to find it.
Note: This program has been discontinued by the vendor. JiWire will continue to offer support on it until June 2009.
