Description of LastChance

We've all found ourselves remembering one more thing to do just as the PC starts shutting down. Dive in and do that last thing with LastChance. This desktop utility lets you configure some programs to run just before shutdown. It catches intercepts the shutdown request and runs the configured programs before finishing the shutdown.

  Duration of ownership: 2 Days

  Strengths: Run programs at shutdown.

  Weaknesses: Run programs at shutdown, that's it. No idle time, logoff only, etc. Really poor interface. Doesn't work with Vista. Had problems on XPSP2.

  Overall Evaluation: I agree with AJim, don't waste your time. If you want some control, I found ShutdownPlus from wmsoftware.com and have really liked it, even though it cost me $25.

  Strengths: Lets you schedule applications at restart or shutdown.

  Weaknesses: Document is very week. Many of the options are not explained. May not work with Windows XP Service Pack 2 (per post on the internet). Website lintested in PC World Documentation and in Fileware does not exist

  Overall Evaluation: Don't waste your time. Windows XP (and other versions of Windows) have a Group Policy application ths does the samething. the Microsoft Group Policy (Run>gpedit.msc, Scripts (Startup/Shutdown) had the same capability and included adequate documentation of the options.
