Description of ShixxNOTE

ShixxNOTE 6.net is a personal organizer, desktop sticky notes (post-it) program, instant messaging application (LAN messanger) and a communications tool used across a local network (Intranet), Internet and via e-mail. Easy to use personal info management application and powerful communication tool. It features an alarm, backup and restore function, and many other features. It is configurable and stable. It is multithread client/server network tool that lets you display notes on your desktop and send them through your LAN, Internet or via e-mail to others. You can write anything in note, like what you want to do today, or something you want to remember. Note color, size, font, paragraph format and other settings can be changed. Custom note colors (themes) can be saved. You can set an alarm and expiration for any note. Also you can export and import note(s) to or from file. When you send note to other users, they will receive exactly the same note on their desktop if recipient have also program installed, otherwise program will use Windows Messaging Service (Net Send, WinPopup) and on recipient computer message box will appear with note text and sender name. It is powerful and most simple way to communicate with your colleagues on work or with your friends on the Internet. Perfect and ideal tool for your LAN or office communication. Program starts at system Start-Up and it is visible as a tray icon.

  Duration of ownership: 2 Years

  Strengths: Small neat program, great for office communication using LAN, and with one click you can send desktop sticky notes to 10 co-workers.

  Weaknesses: Maybe some more help and documentation would be good because when you start to discover plenty of settings and options you maybe need some help.

  Overall Evaluation: Since "sticky notes" concept became virtual sticky notes on the computer's desktop, it have taken a long way. There are several mature "solutions" based on sticky notes concept, but in the area two extremes exist, which are the frequent fate of those programs. Some of them behave "exactly as your old sticky notes", ignoring almost all virtual media possibilities in favor of "simplicity", other ones are full-featured but already over-loaded with features to be "handy and sticky". The golden mean is rare and precious, that's why I want to propose ShixxNOTE. The "spirit" of this software is just a good old sticky note: you have small pieces of written information on your screen, and only it, nothing redundant. But, starting to investigate what you can really do with those notes and inside them, you'll be really surprised. Those "small pieces of information" have all modern formatting abilities, but they're cooler, they can serve several important roles at once. ShixxNOTE plays well as organizer, as each note can have alarm time associated and will show itself to this time. Moreover, ShixxNOTE can serve as multipurpose communication software, as notes can be sent in several ways through the local network, Internet or e-mail, even to computers without ShixxNOTE installed!
