Editorial Review of AuraScope
Here's another hit from WeiserWare, maker of PolyMorph3D. Smoothly
rendered, three-dimensional kaleidoscopic images silently morph
from one pattern to the next, generating flower-like images,
mandalas, and images that look like they could be from outer space.
AuraScope was simple to install: Just run the executable file, and
it installed itself and opens Windows' Display Properties box.
Clicking Settings brings up a bevy of options, including number of
trails, Trail Width, Trail Density, Pattern Morph Speed, Colour
Speed, and so on. One glitch: The preview window within Display
Properties displayed only what looked like colored static, not
images from the screen saver. The trial version includes nag
screens and text messages that explain how you can use function
keys to tweak the program. Registering the program for $13 removes
those distractions.
