Editorial Review of Actual Window Manager
Crave more control over individual windows than Microsoft gives you? Then get Actual Window Manager, which lets you control them in ways Microsoft never imagined. You can give any window semi-transparency, make sure that important windows are always kept on top of less important ones, "roll up" windows so only their title bar appears, and "ghost" windows, which means that when you click a window, you actually perform an action on the window underneath it--although it will still respond to keyboard commands.
Those who live to tweak will no doubt spend a great deal of time using this Actual Window Manager. Others will wonder why they should even bother. I count myself among the tweakers, and so am a fan. There's no doubt that this is a nifty program for power users. But is it $50 nifty? Not for my wallet, but yours might disagree.
Note: At times, you may notice when you use this program that a window will not respond to mouse clicks. That's because you've accidentally "ghosted" it. To get around the problem, right-click Actual Window Manager in the Notification area, and click Stop. That will turn Actual Window Manager off. When you turn it on again, the window will no longer be ghosted.
