Description of Avvenu
This free remote-access and file-sharing service lets you and your coworkers get to files on an Avvenu-enabled computer from another computer, Web-enabled phone, or PDA.
After installing Avvenu's software on a Windows PC, you can access that PC--and the files it contains--through Avvenu's Web site. You can browse or search through all the files on that PC from your mobile device or another computer. You choose the file you need, and decide whether to share it with someone else or download it to your device. You can share files or entire directories by sending someone an e-mail with a Web link to (only) that folder or file. Want to show all those great travel pictures on your phone? No problem: Avvenu resizes photos on-the-fly for mobile devices.
Note: We have not reviewed the latest version, which is available from the "Download Now" link above. Here are two features in the new version with descriptions provided by the developer.
1. Avvenu Plus provides access to any computer even if it's not turned on or even connected to the internet. It is a paid service ($3.99/mo or $29.99/yr for 5GB storage).
2. The My Media Play feature lets you play MP3 and WMA music files on any remote, Internet-connected computer or handheld device equipped with Windows Mobile 5. No more set play lists or syncing your mobile device up with your PC.
