Description of CDex

Extract music tracks from an audio CD and store them as .wav or MP3 sound files. The program's interface monitors jitter correction and indicates how the ripping process is progressing. This version supports streaming for external encoders, and it lets you convert from MPEG to .wav (and vice versa) while retaining the original directory layout. File formats supported include WAV, MP3, OGG, VQF, and APE.

  Strengths:

  Weaknesses: has no way to uninstall.

  Overall Evaluation: bad when it dont work right and there's no way to uninstall it ot try and get it to install the right way.

  Strengths: CDex is a great little program for ripping CDs. It has many useful options including bit rate. I prefer 192 kbs. It can also convert .wav to .mp3. It can download song names. It has great options for file names. I use "%1-%Y-%2\%7-%4" for Artist-Year-Album\Track#-Song. It can normalize volume levels. It can even snip off pieces of songs if there is an intro that you do not like.

  Weaknesses: I can be a little slow on older CD drives.

  Overall Evaluation: I highly recommend this program. It is much easier to use than the bloated Windows Media Player.
