Editorial Review of FastStone Capture

If you don't have Vista or don't like its Snipping Tool, you can always press to copy an image of your entire screen (or - for just the active window) to the Clipboard.

But it almost always leaves out the pointer or cursor, and you still have to paste the image into and save it from Paint or some other image editor.

For a fast, easy solution, try FastStone Capture. FastStone supports a variety of output formats, provides an editor for you to tweak your capture before saving, or lets you go directly to save (with auto file naming, if desired).

I especially like the Capture Object option, which lets me hit my (customizable) hotkey and then point to the object (Window, menu, toolbar, etc) that will be captured.
