    Strengths: Nothing special to mention.

Weaknesses: Uses up resources, some bugs, basically unreliable performance.

Overall Evaluation: Eusing registry cleaner uses the most common standard open source search algorithm that most free, sadly payee too, registry cleaner uses. Also, it has the same interface. Goes for numbers, i.e. finds huge number of reg keys. Although, it does not retrieve too many false positives, it scans the whole registry, including sections that should never be touched, so rigidly that you need to be a registry expert to find out what to delete. It does not have an intelligent search algorithm, it retrieves everything that seems to be redundant at the time of scanning, but you might need it a bit later, thus damaging your windows beyond repair. Unless you are a registry expert, use the exclude option generously e.g. exclude the MRU user assist and many others from the search and do not use the folder search option. Be very careful before deleting anything and please note that modern Windows, Vista, W7 do not need registry cleaning. Their registry have different structure.

Strengths: Unlike some others, I wasn't asked to pay

Weaknesses: Deleted important parts of Windows XP registry

Overall Evaluation: Use at your own risk! I downloaded and installed this. Although my relatively new computer was working fast and perfectly, this found about 1,000 "registry errors." I'm not very experienced with computers and decided to click to allow all it found to be removed/repaired. Right away, for the first time this computer had problems, big ones. Could not maintain a connection to the Internet with more than a couple websites open. If I tried to save a webpage or download anything, the screen would completely freeze. Couldn't access Task Manager, mouse didn't work, the only option was press and hold the power button to turn the computer off. Each day it got worse. Even a Symantec restore didn't work. The only bright spot, I had a restore disc and Dell technical support, who guided me through a reformat of my hard drive and reinstallation of Windows. Since the reformat the computer is back to working fine and I will never again borrow trouble like that. Unless you are knowledgeable about the registry and can judge whether entries a cleaner finds are or are not safe to repair or remove, my advice is forget registry cleaners.

    Strengths: Hardly Any

Weaknesses: Uses up many resources, does not fix problems and is not free.

Overall Evaluation: I think its safe to say that there are hardly any free registry cleaner tools out their that fix errors without demanding payment. After using this program I reverted to Reg Cure which has done wonders for my computer system in terms of performance and stability. Anyone looking for a quality registry cleaner tool should give it a try and download it at http://www.registrycure.info/

    Strengths: none

Weaknesses: all of it, plus it's not really free

Overall Evaluation: This software is a piece of garbage. First, it's misleading claiming to be free when it isn't. Next, on my machine, I tried to use it and it froze up on me and I had to go into my task manager to shut it down. It's a good thing it did, I was silly enough to run it without double checking the errors, and found when I went back and looked that there were critical registry entries that it was about to delete. I promptly uninstalled this, I'll have to find something else.

    Strengths: None

    Weaknesses: Nagware

Overall Evaluation: Biggest piece of garbage I've ever seen. Once loaded, this "free" piece of junk demanded registration each time I started it. When I skipped registration and ran it, it removed critical portions of the Windows registry. PC World, get a clue!
