Editorial Review of Amiglobe 2006

Amiglobe 2006 is essentially a graphical interface to data available in the CIA World Factbook (2005 edition). Four map projections (flat, Lambert, Mercator, and spherical) are available; topological data is provided in this version. To get information on a country of interest, just click it to view data on its geography, history, population, government, economics, transportation, and military. You can even see the country's flag and hear its national anthem. Images are available for many locations, though this function is rather clunky.

Amiglobe lets you compare data among countries and perform specialized searches on topics such as demographics, for example, and then output the data as a text file.

Three games--country shapes, capitols, and flags--test your knowledge. They're excellent teaching tools, as the correct answers are provided.
