You can, for example, convert among file formats as well. Although the program will also play audio files, that's not its strength, and if you're looking for a media player, you'd do better with another program. But for recording and similar tasks, it's a winner.
Note that the program has a variety of limits on it until you register. For example, you'll only be able to record 120 seconds per track, and you'll only be able to join three files. The registered version, which costs $29.95, has no limits.
