Editorial Review of DxO Optics Pro
If you've got a digital SLR, you're well on your way to getting the best digital photos you can take. But DxO's Optics Pro software can take you the rest of the way. The program fine-tunes your digital photos based on the unique optical characteristics of the camera model and lens you used to take the shots, removing excess noise and dust, correcting uneven perspective geometry and optical distortion, modestly adjusting exposure, correcting wacky color problems, and sharpening softly-focused photos--all automatically, at the click of a button, and incredibly well.
DxO isn't for everyone. For one thing, the camera and lens setup you use must be supported by the product (you can check what models and lens types the product supports on their Website). Virtually all DSLR bodies and lenses, as well as a growing list of so-called prosumer point-and-shoot models, are supported by the Standard Edition package found here (professional photographers might need the $299 Elite edition, with a wider range of support for pro lenses and DSLR camera bodies). For another, if you're a capable Photoshop guru, you may be able to perform most of the tasks manually, one photo at a time, that DxO's product does automatically and rapidly, in batches of any size. But if quality, speed, ease of use are of paramount concern, Image Pro won't let you down.
