Editor's Review of SyncMyCal

SyncMyCal solves a conundrum that an increasing number of people face. They keep their personal calendar in Outlook, but use a group calendar in Google. That means that they need to regularly check both calendars, duplicating events in each. And that spells trouble: missed appointments, wasted time, and general confusion. This nifty program keeps Outlook and Google calendars in synch, so that you don?t need to check multiple calendars to know where you need to be in the next ten minutes.

SyncMyCal solves the problem neatly. It synchronizes your Outlook and Google calendars, and gives you plenty of options for how you can do it. You can do full synch, only download your Google calendar to your Outlook calendar, or only upload your Outlook calendar to Google. There are also lots of options for when and how to synchronize them--manually, automatically on a schedule (in the paid version), and so on. You can even synchronize Outlook with multiple Google calendars. And you can also select how much of your calendar you want to synchronize, for example, only seven days, or two full months.

There are free and for-pay versions of this SyncMyCal. The free version found here won't do automatic synchronization, and only lets you synchronize seven days of your calendar. So if you're serious about getting your calendars in synch, you'll probably need to upgrade to the $25 for-pay version.

Note: This link takes you to the vendor's site, where you must accept the terms and conditions to download the version appropriate for your system. If you install this program in Windows Vista, you should run the installation program as an administrator. Also, if the installation program has problems downloading and installing the required Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Tools Runtime for the Microsoft Office System, go to http://tinyurl.com/zjhh2, and download them from there.
