Editorial Review of Window Clippings

If you need to capture screenshots in Windows Vista, you need this program. There's a free as well as a for-pay version, it's simple to use, and even though it works in Windows XP as well as Vista, it includes a particularly important feature for capturing Vista screens, the ability to capture window shadows.

It's exceptionally simple to use. Press the Print Screen key, click the window you want to capture, and then double-click. You can save to a variety of formats, and you can ask to be prompted each time for where you want to save a file, or else you can designate a specific folder.

There is a free as well as a $10 for-pay version of this program. For very basic screen captures, the free version will work fine. But if you want to capture a mouse pointer, capture specific areas of your screen, use a timer for screen captures, and similar features, you'll have to pay.
