AutoStreamer simplifies the once-intimidating chore of slipstreaming your Windows XP CD--producing an XP SP2 CD from your SP1 or even vintage original XP CD. This free program combines files from your original CD and the downloadable SP2 update and outputs an .iso CD image file that any disc-burning program can turn into a bootable, Windows CD. If your computer came with XP but no XP CD, AutoStreamer might work with the the i386 folder on your hard drive...but it might not.

Duration of ownership: 1 Days

Strengths: Everyone said it was great.

Weaknesses: Will not run on my WinXP SP3 machine.

Overall Evaluation: I installed Autostreamer after seeing several glowing reviews. Clicked the icon and nothing happened. No window at all. The animated hourglass spun a few seconds and that's it. Tried again but no joy. Restart PC but still nothing after that. After clicking I looked in Task Manager but it's not loaded in memory. It is in my program list. It did uninstall OK. I went to a different site to D/L a new installer. Works no better than 1st one. I also note that WinXP didn't note with a highlighted entry in Programs that a new progam had been added. I'm not happy, hence 1 star.

Duration of ownership: 0 Days

Strengths: This program is easier to use than the program that Microsoft recommends. It has a nice gui so you can tell what it is doing. The image is in an iso format so it is easy to find and burn.

Weaknesses: I did not notice any shortcomings.

Overall Evaluation: I think that this program is much better that tha one Microsoft suggests. The text messages help to guide you along and the icons idicate the progress very well. I wish I had found this program sooner.
