Editorial Review of AppSnap

Once a month or so I run AppSnap, a free tool that shows which of the freeware tools on my PC need updating. AppSnap scans my system and lists the apps, the version is on my PC, as well as the program's current version number. I choose the programs needing upgrading (or new programs I want to install) and click Upgrade. AppSnap silently installs each app so I don't have to deal with separate application installation routines. You can scan for applications in various categories, such as Installed, Not Installed, Upgradable, or, if you want to remove programs, Removable. The big surprise was how many popular tools--and most of my favorites--AppSnap had in its database: CCleaner, Firefox, Google Desktop, Google Earth, iTunes, Opera, PDF Creator, Winamp, and Thunderbird, to name just a few.
