Editorial Review of SuperCleaner
Computers are cluttered with digital detritus: dead links, undeleted temp files, shortcuts to deleted programs. SuperCleaner is an easy to use utility that scans your disk for such ghosts of software past and sends them to their rightful resting place.
The program offers many options: cleaning out dead shortcuts, Internet favorites which point to defunct Web sites, useless temporary files, and more. Each subpane has a host of options, including the ability to just move files to the trash or wipe them from the disk completely. The degree of user control is impressive given the general simplicity and ease of use of the interface.
The program easily scanned my disks, and found a host of files I did not need, as well as some junk from truly ancient Web sites I'd regularly visited long ago but which were now gone. I deleted the detected clutter with abandon.
Because of the power of the program--and the potential for accidentally deleting files which may not be as "unneeded" as they seem--I strongly recommend that you use the Windows System Restore feature to produce a save point prior to using this or any other similar software.
