Got TV shows on your PC--complete with commercials? Try VideoReDo Plus. In addition to its commercial-editing features, VideoReDo Plus natively reads the proprietary TiVo files, saving another step in this process. (If you use another editor, it might not work with TiVo videos.) During the installation, select the option to import TiVo files from the default My TiVo Recordings folder.
To remove commercials from standard-def TV recordings, launch VideoReDo Plus and open one of the shows. Use the Ad-Detective scan feature, and VideoReDo will analyze and mark sections as possible commercial breaks. You can jump between these points with the red forward- and back-arrows and easily select swaths of video to cut.
