Tech-capable fans of Sid Meier's Civilization turn-based strategy
games got together years ago to make this fun, free, open-source
clone, and they've been updating it ever since.
Freeciv brings in elements from the Civ I and Civ II classics,
where you guide your civilization from humble beginnings as a small
tribe to global - and eventually space - dominance. The game
supports up to 30 network players, and you can download a wide
range of mods to change the graphics, add additional nations or
maps, and customize the game mechanics.

where you can choose the appropriate download for your OS.
