Peruse security videos with this nice little scene detector--if you can deal with the steep price.

FrameSeeker's raison d'ĂȘtre is to cut down on the tedium of scanning surveillance video. This it does quite well, and I'm unaware of any other program with this focus. You simply load the video, press the seek button, and the video will stop at the next scene change, revealing a new event in the surveillance--hopefully revealing what you're looking for. It was quite fast and accurate in my trials. What FrameSeeker is doing is nothing new. It's called scene detection and most video editors, such as those in Nero and Easy Media Creator, have it. However, those programs lack FrameSeeker's interactivity. They'll detect scene changes and mark them, but you'll have to wait for the entire video to process (or press the stop button) then use the chapter buttons to see where changes were detected.

I have only one problem with FrameSeeker, and that's the price. A hundred smackeroos seems like a lot for a one-trick pony that largely duplicates functionality you might already possess. Then again, I'm not constantly scanning surveillance videos, and someone in that position might consider it a bargain. To reiterate: It works, it's easy, and it costs a lot.
