Editorial Review of Hotkey Search Tool
Some programs just do one thing. Hotkey Search Tool is one such program. Its thing: Allowing you to very quickly use Internet search engines. If you're reading a document, for example, and it includes the word, oh, antidisestablishmentarianism, and you have Hotkey Search Tool installed, you need merely highlight the word and hit Ctrl-C twice, and your browser will open to your favorite search engine with the highlighted word already entered and searched for. (Then you will discover that someone has porn related to it, because this is the Internet, after all.)
Compared to a full featured macro program, Hotkey Search Tool has one thing going for it: You don't need to learn a macro scripting language, record, and debug a macro. While this sort of thing is fairly easy to do with such programs, if you're not already conversant with one, it's not worth learning one just to perform a simple function.
Hotkey Search Tool is free, and it does its job. If you find copying text, opening a browser, going to a search engine, pasting in text, and hitting 'Search' to be too much work (I sure do), download and install this useful little gadget.
