Editorial Review of Interclue
Install the Interclue add-on for the Firefox Web browser, and from
then on when you move your mouse over a link you'll see a small
icon appear next to it. Click the icon, and you'll see a pop-up
preview of the link destination.
The pop-up preview shows selected text and images on the left side, along with information such as a list of downloadable files, page thumbnails and a word count for the destination page on the right side. If the link goes to a download, the pop-up will show the file name, size, date and MIME type.
Interclue offers a handy first-use tutorial that you can access by clicking one of four icons it adds to the lower-right corner of your browser (the others are to enable or disable the addon, view statistics, or change options). It has a smart approach to setting addon preferences, where a basic tab asks a few straightforward questions about your preferences, computer resources and Internet connection and changes settings accordingly, and an advanced tab that provides access to a huge array of customization options.
By default, Interclue will gather and submit anonymous features usage data back to the developers, though it won't track pages you visit or gather personal information. You can disable the option if you want.
Note: The download link takes you to the vendor's add-on page, where you can automatically install the file into Firefox.
