Strengths: Works exactly as promised. I made the change on two computers. The insert key is the only key (other than some of the F keys) that I have never used, but I have accidentally hit it too many times to count—always to my extreme annoyance.

    Weaknesses: None

Overall Evaluation: It's wonderful. Unlike the two previous reviewers, I have not had any trouble with any keys—including the escape and F keys. I added the registry key to the registry by opening Registry Editor and importing the key (but it doesn't seem likely that that would have made any difference). By the way, I am using Windows 7 (Professional 64-bit on one machine and Home Premium on the other) and Word 2002, which, unlike for the version that Mr. Bass was using, submits to the change.

Strengths: Removes "insert" capability on keyboard

Weaknesses: It also removes capability from other buttons on keyboard.

Overall Evaluation: "Noinsert" is a great idea but I had serious problems with this download. Upon restart, other buttons on my keyboard suddenly stopped working. First it was the "d" and "3" button. Later it was the "c" and and "r" button. With every restart of my computer I didn't know what would lose function next. Eventually I had to go into registry to remove it. Here's the fix: Open a blank Notepad file and drag "NoInsert.reg" into it. This will show where the program modifies your registry. Then open Command Prompt and type "regedit" Follow the path as indicated in Notepad and delete the new file. This has fixed my computer for now, hope it works for yours too.

    Strengths: Disables the useless key

Weaknesses: If you use a custom program at work it might affect the functionality of other keys.

Overall Evaluation: I downloaded this small Registry file and ran it. After re-starting my pc I played with the insert key and it was disabled on Outlook and Word. Now my only problem is that I use a custom program at work that uses a lot of the Fs key as well as the ESC for exiting from a screen or terminate an action. Now evertime I press the ESC key when I am using this custom program the number 3 comes up instead of performing the action that it used to (terminate). I would like to know how to reverse the changes.
