Editorial Review of Jack the Shredder

When you delete files, even from your Recycle Bin, they can still be easily recovered by someone with a little know-how. Jack the Shredder aims to make sure that when you delete a file, it stays deleted. It lets you choose from among 10 different powerful shredding algorithms to overwrite deleted files with random characters, to ensure deleted files can't be recovered.

There are some good extras Jack the Shredder, such as setting up a password so that only you can use it. And you can protect certain file types by setting them as exclusions. There's also a Safety Mode you can turn on so that you don't accidentally delete files with (for instance) a butterfingered drag-and-drop.

The title of the program, plus its splash screen, uses a Jack the Ripper character in a playful way. But this program is dead serious when it comes to protecting your privacy.
