Editorial Review of Glue (formerly BlueOrganizer)

Glue (formerly BlueOrganizer) adds a new, context-sensitive button to your Firefox navigation bar with options that change depending on what you're viewing.ptage

The button offers four primary features: SmartMenu, SmartLinks, My Things and Widgets. SmartMenu changes the nav bar icon when it recognizes that you're looking at a movie, book, stock, recipe or something else it recognizes. Click the drop-down arrow next to the icon (which changes to a movie reel, book, etc.) to find a context-sensitive menu for searching for a book's author on Amazon, for example, or a movie director on IMDB.

For other sites, you'll see a list of options that include saving the page to del.icio.us, sharing it on Twitter, or searching Google for similar pages.

SmartLinks is similar, but adds an icon next to links in a page for items it recognizes. Click the blue icon next to a recognized movie link, for instance, and you'll see a pop-up with information on that movie along with links to search for it on relevant sites.

Next, My Things allows you to left-click the toolbar button to save the page as a Glue bookmark. Recognized books, movies, etc. automatically go into their own category, and you can choose other categories such as People or Sports. Search through your bookmarks in a MyThings sidebar.

It's worth noting that bookmarking a site using the MyThings option doesn't also add it to your Firefox bookmarks, which in version 3 allows for adding tags to bookmarks and then quickly searching among them (as well as your browsing history) by typing into the site address field.

Finally, with Glue you can create a widget that displays selected items from your My Things list, and add that widget to your blog.

Note: The above download link will bring you to a Mozilla add-on page which can install Glue directly into your browser.
