Editorial Review of Outlook on the Desktop

Tired of constantly switching to Outlook just to see your calendar? You'll find this nifty little freebie a big timesaver. It displays the Outlook calendar directly on your desktop, so that you don't have to switch to Outlook to see it. It not only lets you view your calendar, but you can use the calendar as well, including creating new appointments and meeting request. And you can open any appointment.

If you'd prefer, you can instead display your inbox, Contacts, Notes, or Tasks on the desktop. Keep in mind, though, that when Outlook is displayed on your desktop, you only get partial functionality on the desktop itself. For example, you can't check your mail from the desktop; to do that, you have to go into Outlook itself.

On my machine, the program didn't always work properly. When I switched from the desktop to an application and back again, for example, Outlook often wouldn't display immediatle (although it frequently would display after several seconds). Still, given that the program is free, if you're an Outlook user, it's worth the download.

Note: This program is donationware. It is free to try, but the author accepts and encourages donations towards further development.
