Editorial Review of Process Monitor

If you're a programmer or troubleshooting technician, you need to peer deep into the inner workings of all the programs, processes, and threads running on a PC. You won't find a better program than Process Monitor. This freebie, which incorporates features of the now-retired utilities Filemon and Regmon, offers an enormous number of ways into examining the current state of a PC and everything running on it.

Process Monitor shows you an enormous amount of detail about each of those events, including its path, the operation it's performing, the process name, and details about it. You can also view similar information for Registry keys and current network activity. If you're not a developer or troubleshooter, you most likely won't find any use for this program. But those who program or need to track down problems will find it offers what they need, and most likely more as well.
