Description of McAfee VirusScan
The mainstream press makes much ado about viruses, and it's not all sensationalism: They are a real threat. McAfee VirusScan can provide a good dose of protection.
The program detects and removes existing viruses and protects your PC from new ones. It scans files, subdirectories, disks, and networks for viral infections. It inspects Microsoft Word and Excel macros, as well as e-mail, downloaded files, Java applets, and ActiveX controls. It covers polymorphic, macro, multipartite, and stealth viruses.
One of the best aspects of VirusScan, in contrast to other virus cleaners, is that the software is backed by McAfee AVERT Labs (Antivirus Emergency Response Team), one of the world's largest antivirus research groups. They research the latest virus threats and create vaccines. If you find a virus on your PC, you can submit it to the lab for testing--and receive a personalized diagnosis.
The folks at Network Associates aren't too generous in this latest version, as there's no trial download. That said, there is a 30 day guarantee. If you'd like to give it a shot, click the following link.
