Description of Norton SystemWorks 2005
Despite rival offerings from McAfee and Ontrack SystemSuite nipping hungrily at its heels, Symantec's Norton SystemWorks remains the master utility suite--and with good reason.
SystemWorks 2005 retains the effective optimization, monitoring, and diagnostic tools that we have come to expect from Symantec. One Button Checkup runs a full system check that finds and fixes problems ranging from fragmented drives to outdated virus definitions to Registry conflicts. In some cases you may need to muster bigger guns to eradicate major gremlins, so the suite offers four programs: Norton AntiVirus, Norton Utilities, Norton CleanSweep, and GoBack.
You can set this program to scan for viruses in instant message attachments as well as more traditional modes of infection. SystemWorks also scans for certain non-virus threats, such as spyware and keyloggers.
Symantec does not offer a trial version of SystemWorks, so you have to pay the full price in order to use it.
