According to their web site, KP Typing Tutor has been around since 1995--and it shows. The interface is bare-bones and just barely functional, ignoring many modern UI conventions. For example, it fills the window (hiding the Taskbar), and has no menu bar at all. The heart of the program, the typing tutorial, is minimalist but serviceable, covering both Qwerty and Dvorak keyboard layouts. It is often unclear what to do next or how to respond. The program comes with a typing game, de rigueur for programs of this type, but the game crashed on my system shortly after starting it. Further, the program itself issued an error message on exit.
If you are strapped for cash and want only to focus on typing, this program should prove adequate to your needs.
