Description of Better Paste

Better Paste is a simple, lightweight application that tweaks the default Ctrl+V paste shortcut such that it pastes plain text every time; if you want formatted text, simply hit Ctrl+Shift+V.

Note: This link takes you to the vendor's site, where you can download the latest version of the software. This open source program is written in AutoHotKey, which many virus checkers interpret as a Trojan. The software's author is aware of this, and he stands by the program.

  Strengths: easy install...i'm using Windows 7 with Norton Internet 2010 and did not have any problems with the program being accused of being a virus

  Overall Evaluation: Great idea - esp. since switching to Office 2007, my own macro for doing this same thing behaves erratically (worked perfectly in Office 2000). But as soon as I went to download it, I got a Trojan Horse warning. If the developer is aware of the problem, he should fix it - not expect users to ignore their virus checkers.

  Overall Evaluation: I tested BetterPaste on a new PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Unlike the first reviewers, I noticed the author's warning that the scripting language causes false Trojan warnings. No problem there... But the utility just doesn't work. It causes the paste command (Ctrl-V or Ctrl-Shift-V) to alternatively beome sticky sluggish or mis-fire. Tbe result (source or destination formatting) seems to be left to random chance with about equal chances! Perhaps it is not possible to test this feature by using the UNDO keystroke (Ctrl-Z)? Still, it seems very inconsistant and buggy.
