Description of Comodo Time Machine

Comodo Time Machine is not exactly a backup utility. Instead, it is a powerful system rollback utility, allowing you to take a snapshot of your system at any time, and roll back to that time if necessary. Just after a large installation that didn't go just right, or system testing, or even after the kids have used the computer for the day.   Strengths: Lightweight and fast. Easy to use

  Weaknesses: A bug

  Overall Evaluation: I have needed to use CTM several times in the last four months and for the most part it has worked fine. My computer booted exactly as I expected. I rather wish the indexing feature could be turned off as the entries build up and you have to delete them. I test drive a lot of utilities and they can make my system really shaky sometimes. Comodo Time Machine has solved that problem. It does hoever have a bug where it occasionally reports that I'm running out of disk space when there's lots of it left. I use an old Toshiba a105 with a 40 gig hard drive and it is reported when I have between 22GB and 28GB. I've read plenty of other reviews complaining of the same problem. If they fix that I just may continue using CTM. Believe me I've had some lousy software on my machine before and this isn't it. Overall I gave it three stars because it has done what says it does and for free.

  Duration of ownership: 10 Months

  Strengths: Does exactly what it is advertised to do - allow you to return your computer to a previous state. The program is easy to install and use is intuitive and very user friendly. It is free as well.

  Weaknesses:

  Overall Evaluation: For me this is a can't do without application. I take snapshots daily and/or before installing new apps and this has saved my bacon more than once.

  Strengths: It does work and would be very usefull without the bugs.

  Weaknesses: After doing a defrag, I kept getting file system and out of space errors which made my computer unusable until I uninstalled the product.

  Overall Evaluation: Good product once the file sytem issue is resolved. Cannot recommend at this time.

  Duration of ownership: 2 Months

  Strengths: Installation was very easy and snapshot scheduling was flexible enough to meet my needs. It takes less then 1 minute to create a snapshot. This morning (Thursday) my Windows 7 system would not load and CTM restored yesterday's snapshot and I was able to successfully login.

  Weaknesses: At system boot you need to press the "Home" key to access CTM. At boot my keyboard has the Num Lock turned ON so that I have to be fast enough to hit Num Lock and then the Home key.

  Overall Evaluation: As stated in another review CTM saved my bacon! I could have restored the system partition using my Monday's Acronis TrueImage backup but CTM did the job.

  Overall Evaluation: Very useful software - saved my bacon recently when I managed to screw up my system. I'm using Windows 7 Pro on a 64-bit machine.

  Weaknesses: Kept telling me i was out of disc space for the program to work. i had 92 GB free.

  Overall Evaluation: Really did not work for me.
