Editorial Review of Quick View Plus

If you're a business user looking for an easy way to preview spreadsheets, word processing documents, presentations, or databases without firing up the corresponding program, then Quick View Plus 10 is what you're looking for. With over 300 filters for everything from ancient programs such as Harvard Graphics for DOS to the latest Microsoft Office 2007 XML documents, it can be worth its weight in gold,--or discontinued programs, if you prefer.

For the average user, Quick View Plus is a bit pricey for what is largely a matter of convenience--viewing a number of common file types within a single window. Such files can be handled with free photo editors, hex editors, PDF viewers and even Windows Explorer. And while Quick View Plus will display any file as ASCII or hex, it seemed rather unstable in this regard--crashing while opening a hexadecimal file. Incidentally, Quick View Plus doesn't handle audio or video, only image files. I think the company is missing a bet in not broadening the program's support in this arena.

AV savvy or not, Quick View Plus 10 can be a lifesaver if you've got a legacy business document for which you don't have the software. That's its raison d'être and it's very good at what it does.
