Description of UBitMenu

UBitMenu is a simple way for professional Microsoft Office users to get accustomed to the new ribbon based interface of Office 2007 without any performance loss. It will emulate / activate the Office 2003 menu in Word 2007, Excel 2007 and Powerpoint 2007 (Word 2010, Excel 2010, Powerpoint 2010).

If you have spent agonizing minutes trying to find features in Word, Excel or PowerPoint ribbons that would have been at your finger tips in Office 2003 you will soon appreciate UBitMenu, especially when you have to finish an important document under time pressure.

UBitMenu does not hide the ribbon interface, but adds the classic menu as a new ribbon. Gradually you will realize that many functions are easier to handle using Office ribbons. Microsoft has done a good job there.

Note: This program is free for personal use only. Business users must buy a license. Close all open Office programs before installing UBitMenu.

  Strengths: Permits one to use the menus we have learned over the years instead of dealing with the stupid ribbon

  Weaknesses: I wish it totally restored the 2003 menus

  Overall Evaluation: Very good and very welcome! Difficult to accomplish anything without it.

  Strengths: Works well with 2007+ versions of Office products.

  Weaknesses: Could not accommodate the old version of Excel that didn’t have the ribbon. (I bought the 2007 suite but hated the ribbon so I stuck with old version of Excel). It prevented Excel from running and I could not find a way to activate UBitMenu only on Word. But then again it was free so I really can’t complain.

  Overall Evaluation: Very good for intended prupose but appears to lack sufficient robustness to accommodate Office programs without ribbon.

  Strengths: Amazingly convenient to get something done quickly in Word - without hunting for a long time to try and decipher the Ribbon. I've been working with Office 2007 on my work laptop now for 5 months and this program works beautifully - I probably use it 40% of the time.

  Weaknesses: As mentioned before it doesn't point you to where that pesky function is now located.

  Overall Evaluation: Outstanding work! And for a free of charge program, no complaints!

  Strengths: It does exactly what it says. Installed without issue. Supports Word, Excel and Powerpoint 2007 for me.

  Weaknesses: So far I have found non.

  Overall Evaluation: I think the creator of the software did an excellent job of integrating old with new. Those who critique what they think are "shortcomings" of the FREE product should try writing their own code to create something better.
