  Strengths: Works very well, always.

  Weaknesses: Have to tend to it occasionally..Updates etc.

  Overall Evaluation: Wouldnt run my computer without it or an antivirus program installed. Best free program you can download.

  Strengths: Very simple to use, user-friendly interface, does what it claims to do better than the majority of other programs available, especially those that are free.

  Weaknesses: None that I can recall, other than the fact that the version I was using didn't support Vista, so I had stopped using it.

  Overall Evaluation: While I haven't used Spybot S&D for a couple of years, due to the version at that time not being supported by Vista, the version(s) I had been using were quite good, and based on that alone, I can not only recommend previous versions, but, even moreso, would suggest the latest versions, as I'm certain they've continued to only make the program better. The ONLY thing that kept me from rating it 5 stars is that it took too long to release a version supporting Vista once Vista was released. If not for that, it WOULD have been 5 stars.

  Weaknesses: I would not use this program alone for Spyware sensin and Removal.

  Overall Evaluation: Get the Free Version of Spyware Doctor 6.0 thru the Google Updater package.

  Strengths: -100% free (optional donations) -great spyware/malware protection/detection -immunizes against known threats (resident protection) -enables minor system tweaks/modification {but use them with caution}(IE,System Internals, ActiveX,Hosts,Processes)

  Weaknesses: -you need to remember to run it and keep it updated -doesn't catch everything (I use it with Lavasoft's Ad-Aware)

  Overall Evaluation: Excellent, not perfect but its one of the first programs I put on a fresh windows installation before I connect to the internet. ***Yes, in Advanced Mode you can mess up your operating system if you don't know what you are doing. The default Standard Mode is safe for the average user and has only had a few issues (as with any software)all of the years i've used it.

  Strengths: As a network engineer I've used this product for years. It's one of the few utilities that I -always- use when cleaning a computer. While I can agree with other reviewers that it does not always get "everything", I've yet to find any spy/ad utility that does. There is almost always a bit of manual cleanup that has to be done. It's just the nature of the beast...if these things were easy to get rid of we wouldn't need software to do it in the first place.

  Weaknesses: In it's advanced interface, it is often confusing for non-IT people to use to its fullest effectiveness. In fact, it can often cause irreperable damage to a system if used improperly (or by those that qualify as "too smart for their own good" so to speak).

  Overall Evaluation: It's a good software, I've used it since I found out about it, and I will continue to do so as long as it is available and works so well.

  Strengths: well spybot dosent have any strengths so very little cause crashes and system prformance

  Weaknesses: dosent find all spyware and threats just overlooks them never scans the files and folders in pc just runs a bot check looking for something in its library of threats so how can you say you do this when you dont even sacan the system files just runs a bot check never did scan the hard drive or registry or memory just looked for the bots all it deticted was bad cookies not spyware and then when time to remove it all he ll breaks loose

  Overall Evaluation: my overall evaluation of spybot as is not good a pice of junk i use to use it but i removed it saysy it does things imunizing all for internet explorer some people dont use ie so then buts a tool bar in internet explorer so if you dont use internet explorer its just sitting there and then every time you try to install sonething whith administer privalges it pops up sayin user decionwas made so ehith all this hash a bot its not very good although they say it is good but use it and you will be surprised

  Strengths: Rich of features, some of which are unique in the class (immunization, HOSTS list, the little game well hided, the detailed description of startup folder and of threats found, generous i-forum support). Also, the interface problem are no more in version 1.5.

  Weaknesses:

  Overall Evaluation: Necessary though incompletely self-contained (well... nothing is!) an item in every user's diagnostics-and-repair virtual toolkit.

  Overall Evaluation: I used this one for years, it interfered with many antivrus programs ..only gave me a few results.I then used AdAware SE the older version , which i really like better, but now that i upgraded the adaware 07 i may go back to this one, as the new adaware07 doesnt do what I thought it was capable of .i like thed old adaware se..

  Strengths: Low memory usage, minimal system requirements, free software.

  Weaknesses: Not as thorough as stronger, paid antispyware apps like Webroot Spysweeper.

  Overall Evaluation: Spybot Search and Destroy is a decent antispyware app that is useful for picking out some antispyware threats, but is useless if not used with another antispyware app, like Lavasoft Ad-Aware. Unfortunately, the combination of both programs doesn't match up to paid antispyware apps.

  Strengths: It seems to work well if you can get the updates.

  Weaknesses: Updates are hard to get, and sometimes impossible.

  Overall Evaluation: I have used several different anti-spyware programs, and Spybot is the only one I ever decided to quit using. This is because the updates are so hard to get that I often gave up. There are several different uopdate sites to choose from, and some are in other parts of the world, and often, all of them are too busy to use..

  Strengths: free! and it works along with AVG antivirus and Smoothwall firewall, I have no trouble at all as long as they get updated along with microsoft products.

  Weaknesses: I don't know of any.

  Overall Evaluation: great program , I do a manual update. the cosmetic error was fixed lately.
