Strengths: Downloaded the file, installed, and recovered my lost photos in 3 minutes. Very happy.

    Weaknesses:

Overall Evaluation: I have never used a free file recovery app that worked this well, I am very, very happy with it.

    Strengths: None

    Weaknesses: Doesn't work.

Overall Evaluation: I would not recomment this product to anyone trying to recover a partion table from a HDD. I ended up purchasing Partition Table Doctor for 50 $ US and it found my partition with no trouble. I only had to reboot for it to take effect. This program(PC inspector) couldn't even find a file let alone the partition.

Strengths: Recovers deleted files just fine, including pictures, executables and so on.

Weaknesses: Finds a lot of files that are just 0 byte files

Overall Evaluation: Lost my HDD after "Upgrading" from Vista back to XP. Tested this nifty tool and so far all the pictures that I had lost and all spreadsheets and word documents I was working on were returned with a 90% success rate.Great tool to have when you need it.

Strengths: This program works quickly to recover text data and Microsoft applications; temporary files. I do not know how it does with picture, video or sound files, yet. I recovered a PowerPoint file in the time it takes to open about 3 applications, and it saved well to my desktop. The files are displayed with their file types and the folders they are under. They are easily visible by being shaded in green, different from the everyday icons used to indicate folders and documents. It will recover from flash drives, too, those files that you cannot see once you've recycled them.

Weaknesses: The first drive I searched was my main hard drive (C:). When I tried to exit out of the program, both by "X"-ing out, and by Object-->Exit, it hung up. However, I have been able to open it up properly since without it hanging up.

Overall Evaluation: I say this is a good program, at least to use on small files and Microsoft-type documents.I am pleased with its performance with my first file.

Strengths: It's Free, and it can find your lost files. Just like the previous reviewer we lost all the files in My Documents on my daughter's laptop which contained all her college files and digital camera files, over 8000 files!!! This program was able to find them after I fugure out how to set all the features..

Weaknesses: It has several limitations and settings you MUST set. Took me a week of trial and error to get it right. Worse of all though is It locked up at every opportunity on my XP PC. I had to stop background processes and not do anything at all until this program was done searching. That's not a problem, I just had to figure it out on my own. Sometimes during the saving process it would lock up too. The 2nd biggest weakness is all files found are not saved in their original files size, but in the default file size which wastes ton of disk space. It defaults to around 1.47M, so you have to increase it for larger digital camera files. For some reason this program doesn't figure out the file size.

Overall Evaluation: Works fine if you have only a few files to find, not so good for saving lost files on a 100G or larger hard disk. Took me a over a week to complete finding and saving all files. This program needs a file filter, and be able to determine the size of the lost file.

Strengths: It's free and it works!

Weaknesses: Instructions on how to actually to use it is very sparse. After various trial and errors, I've finally figured out the quirks. Hence the purpose of my review

Overall Evaluation: Last year (July 2006), my daughter inadvertenly deleted all of her jpg and avi files on her camera.I've tried using another recommended file recovery program without any success. I came across PC Inspector while resarching other programs. In order to recover the deleted files on the sd card, you need to use the "Find Lost Data" function (after you have selected your dirve). I initially thought I just need to open the "deleted file" folder as displayed by PC Inspector. It took 18 minutes for PC Inspect. to "find" all of the lost files and folder on the 1GB sd card. It took apporx. 36 mins to "save" a 167 MB avi file. After which, the program needs to be cloase; reopened, and reinitiate the "find lost file" function all over again, in order to recover the next 3+MB size file. Initially when I've tried to proceed to the next 10+MB file, the program "crashed". So it took me some time to recover 5 avi files. Subsequently, when I'd recover the 2MB jpeg files, I did two at the time. I probably could have recover 3-2mb files at a time, but I had problem with a truncated file on the 3rd jpeg file. It may have been the sd card's problem, but I didn't want to have redo the 18min "rescan" process each time I've encounter a program failure. The program had "failed" when I've tried to recover (5) 2mb files.

Strengths: Free. Gets the work done

    Weaknesses: Non-standard Windows dialogs

Overall Evaluation: I've had the opportunity to use this file recovery software twice, to recover pictures deleted by accident from two different digital cameras. Obviously, the sooner you run this software, the better results you wil get
