Strengths: Performed remarkably well in recovering .dbx files that had been corrupted.
Weaknesses: None at this writing.
Overall Evaluation: A very superior and useful utility. Highly recommended. (Version 4.5 - download from http://www.oehelp.com/dbxtract/default.aspx).

Strengths: It does what it says it will do.
Weaknesses: The older version--available for download here, even though it represents intellectual property infringement--does not work as well as the most recent version. Also Dr. Cochran has more sophisticated programs available which do a better job.
Overall Evaluation: There is nothing wrong with the program--it works as advertised. What's wrong is that PCWorld has it listed as donationware, when it is not, and offers an obsolete version of the program. I would suggest that anyone who has need of it go to oehelp.com and see all the available programs and pay the licensing fees where applicable. I am not disappointed with the program, but I am very disappointed with PCWorld.

Overall Evaluation: Recovered deleted email folder and opened dbx files. Worked like a charm; not without errors but did the job.

Strengths: none
Weaknesses: Do not use for Outlook Express email recovery
Overall Evaluation: I have lost all emails in one of my folders in Outlook Express. Because that folder had reached 2GB. Outlook Express can't read emails in a folder which is larger than 2GB. I have tried Dbxtract and Mail Navigator programs to recover my missing emails. They show the emails in the program but when I extract them to restore, the program messes all attachments and the HTML formats. It extracts only the basic text. The attachments don't work and the HTML format messes. Do not use those program for Outlook Express email recovery. I've tried another program: OE-Mail Recovery and It worked great. I've restored all my emails back and the attachments.
