Strengths: Can't be deleted even with administration rights. Had to do a restore to get it off the computer. And that meant updating a bunch of other stuff if your not careful.
Weaknesses: No examples given for any feature! Opens up but could not figure out how to use it. Clicked on the blank area but nothing happened. Help F1 was of no help.
Overall Evaluation: Near unusable unless you like to really monkey with stuff. I think the developer overlooked the obvious, like how to start the thing.

Strengths: Easy to use and secure.
Weaknesses: Would be nice to have an easy way to sync PW files between 2 or more PCs. (I just copy the file over...but occasionally lose an update on the one.)
Overall Evaluation: Excellent and easy to use.

Strengths: Open Source has been verified by third parties to not have any "back doors" to this security program. No Funny business in the code. Two Fish high security encryption. Version 1 was overseen by Bruce Schneir at WWW.counterpane.com. Bruce is the closest person "that the security industry has to a rock star."
Weaknesses: Still waiting for a version for the i-phone.
Overall Evaluation: Excellent program available for other platforms and is continually being improved as open source at www.sourceforge.com.

Strengths: Topmost of importance is the ease-of-use. Anymore, it's dangerous to have just one password. But the more passwords one has, the harder it is to remember them all. Password Safe completely takes care of that, easily, quickly, and if you do it right, securely. It's something you can also back up, so in case of loss of data, you have a backup to turn to.
Weaknesses: It's easy to leave off the "open as read only" feature. I would suggest that the default be checked as open as read only, so that if you need to change something, you must UN-check that.
Overall Evaluation: I would give this product a 99 out of 100 rating. It's easy, it's something that a person can easily choose their own style in using, it's something that can be backed up securely, as well as having the feature of actually printing it out so you can read it all in plain english (or your language); though doing that is taking a risk. Have a shredder or safe nearby if you're going to make a readable hardcaopy. I use it constantly and rely on it's auto lock mechanism the second I leave the screen. To open the autolock all you have to do is re-type your master password. Excellent product!
