Duration of ownership: 10 Days
Strengths: Acronis works because 1) you can designate multiple locations to save the image (an "invisible" Acronis partition, USB hard drive,2nd hard drive, etc.), 2) You can boot from either the Acronis partition (with an push of the F11 key) or an Acronis boot CD you create using the program and C) you can schedule incremental images easily
Weaknesses: Some say it causes problems after restore in Vista. That is "solved" by using the boot CD instead of the built-in F11 function OR ignoring the "error" when rebooting and using "Normal" to restart Vista when given the option. There is no real issue.
Overall Evaluation: The is excellent. I bought it on Amazon for 29 bucks with shipping.

Strengths: Have used to restore harddrive and system and it did well.
Weaknesses: Their customer service sucks royally.
Overall Evaluation: Once I figured it out, I found it to be worth what I paid. The try/decide feature did well.

Strengths: Was an excellent product, and may be so again if the security defect if fixed@
Weaknesses: SEVERE security defect!
Overall Evaluation: If you create an incremental backup job, the template allows you to set a password on the backup set. BUT, if you don't have a base full backup created before the incremental job executes, Acronis TI 11 will create what appears to be a full backup, then subsequently run incremental backups, BUT there will be no password protection! There is NO NOTICE that the password protection is not being enforced. All of the documentation indicates that passwords are always enforced. The previous versions automatically recreated the base full backup if it was missing, and always enforced passwords. That allowed you to archive your backup set, say to external hard disk or DVD, then automatically start a new backup set. What was an excellent feature in previous versions has been broken in this version.

Strengths:
Weaknesses: major install and update issues. Does not allow a clean uninstall.
Overall Evaluation: This software was apparently not beta'd properly. After what appeared install with purchsed disk, tried to update as recommended. Update hung-up just before completing. Could not do a clean uninstall. Could not do an over-install. Could not install original disk.Tech service has responded email after 2 days with a couple suggestions. Neither worked. They now have a copy of my install log and awaiting there response. The basis of purchasing this sofware verses Norton Ghost was recomendation by PCWorld, CNet and several others. I have many hours into trying to get this install problem resolved. With the magnitude of this issue, I am now wondering if it gets resolved-should I trust my back-up with it?

Overall Evaluation: True Image caused the loss of a good customer because it was unable to restore an image. Acronis spent over 8 hours trying to help.
