Strengths: Highly intuitive user interface and great feature set.
Weaknesses:
Overall Evaluation: I manage a social networking group and our members often send photos to me to be added to our group. On one occasion someone sent over 100 photos, but the format wasn't compatible with the group. As I searched for an appropriate utility, I discovered FastStone, which I had already installed, but had never used before. Because the interface is so cleverly and beautifully designed, I never needed to check for help of any kind. Additionally, the format conversion worked in a flash without a hitch. FastStone Image Viewer is a five-star utility all day, every day.

Strengths: Great interface. Simple to use with a pop-up instruction of how to use when first viewing a picture. Very fast when downloading even a large amount of pictures. Hover over the right side to bring up an extensive view of the picture's characteristics. Press Esc key to close that picture. The Undo is at the lower left corner when you hover over the left side to bring up those tools.
Weaknesses: None so far.
Overall Evaluation: This is what Windows Photo Gallery should be -- surprised MS hasn't "stolen"/incorporated it into its viewer. Can't go wrong with it.

Strengths: Faststone viewer does a superb job of resizing, emailing photos, viewing, renaming, change time stamp, light editing, generating slide shows, etc. The list goes on and on. If you need to do something with a photo, Faststone viewer will probably do it. When you think it does it all, they come out with a new version with improvements.
Weaknesses: None that I can think of.
Overall Evaluation: Faststone viewer is a first rate program. Faststone also has other programs, some free, some shareware. All the programs I have work great and do tasks that I don't find elsewhere.

Strengths: Viewing thumbnails in a variety of sizes, with folder tree on the left - Viewing photos in their original size (up to your screen size) and allowing you to edit as you view. - Viewing a slide show (at full screen size). All Windows Are Resizable. ---- BEST program for cropping in any format 16:9, 4:3, 5x7, 8x10, or choose your own size. MAINTAINS THE CHOSEN FORMAT AS YOU ARE RESIZING. I have never seen a program that can do this and I have them all. Same for resizing, you can resize individually or resize a whole folder of files using the email feature (and saving them to a file). ---- Has all the standard editing features including Red Eye Removal.
Weaknesses: I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM. I wish it had cloning and the ability to add text.
Overall Evaluation: Easy to use. Simply the BEST for viewing and editing your photos for the first time. Also the BEST for viewing.

Strengths: Small, fast, and powerful. I use it in place of Adobe Photoshop Elements' cataloging/tagging module. FSIV allows me to open an image and launch PSE via a hotkey. FSIV has increased my photo editing workflow performance significantly. It's been well worth the $15 I donated to the author.
Weaknesses: None that I've found in the last 3 years.
Overall Evaluation: As a shareware program for $15 it is outstanding. As a freeware application it is without question THE best.

Strengths: FREE! I cannot believe such a great application is free. I have twice contributed to the maker because it has become an essential part of my everyday photographic life. I take four to five thousand photos yearly and they are initially seen on FastStone to do all my sorting and editing of images to choose the best ones before moving them to Photoshop for enhancing. It has also proven invaluable for resizing or renaming large batches of images. It is an integral part of my workflow. I'd be very unhappy without it.
Weaknesses: None. It has its place as the image viewer to use to evaluate my images before editing in Photoshop.
Overall Evaluation: Excellent! Superb! Invaluable! Easily worth a hundred times the purchase price! :) Each new version is better and smoother than the previous one and I loved the previous versions! I've used it so long that I cannot recall just how long I've valued it's use.

Strengths: Powerful and easy. It has basic editing tools, resizing, format and other tools that are far easer to use than the pricey bloated stuff out there. What I like is using the scroll wheel to go between pictures and the ability do do simple editing practically on the fly.
Weaknesses: None that I can find.
Overall Evaluation: I can't imagine my computer without this porgram. It's used daily be me and comparing it to other programs make them seem cumbersom.

Strengths: Gives great viewing control of photos and other digital graphics
Weaknesses: It's so good that you'll feel like a thief if you don't send the guy who created it a check.
Overall Evaluation: So good that I actually sent the guy a check for $25! Makes handling photos -- and othr graphics -- a breeze. I've actually used it when preparing expert witness reports for court. But don't download version 3.0 -- go to Faststone's home page and download version 3.2 or 3.3 Beta 2. Incredibly stable and fast. Also get his FastStone Capturee -- the first screeen capture program I've found that's both powerful and really easy to use.
