Strengths: Small impact on system, loads fast, you can scroll thru PDF's a lot faster than Adobe Reader, opens files quickly, prints in either full size or reduced size.
Weaknesses: I couldn't edit a PDF the other day, but then its just a reader so no biggie.
Overall Evaluation: Great Option for Opening/Reading and Printing PDF files and is included in all my new builds, you can easily opt out of the Ask Toolbar option (and lately almost all free software has either Ask/Google/Yahoo/Bing(s) Toolbar/Search Engine/Default HomePage PreChecked for you, So uncheck and download/enjoy this useful Setit and Forgetit alternative to the Bloated Reader from Adobe. OH and a NOTE to whoever it was that said that Foxit Reader was Malware/infected (and you used it for 18 months...???) you either have a very badly compromised system or your just full of donkey poo......PDF's don't get infected ya moron, now that "Adobe Flash" stuff sure can...Foxit Reader just does its job quietly and efficently.

Strengths: Fast at opening files, decent preferences and options, small footprint compared to Adobe Reader.
Weaknesses: Latest versions seem to lack an opt-out of the toolbar, and the installation and uninstallation reorganized all of my desktop icons--not to my liking. I also don't get the (optional) registration, except that it will be used to market more products-no thanks!
Overall Evaluation: Used to love it, now I don't.

Strengths: long-known PDF reader, small download size
Weaknesses: limited features, better free options available.
Overall Evaluation: I used to use Foxit as an Acrobat alternative a long time ago, but when I suddenly found problems trying to print from it, I wound up looking for another reader. I've since stuck with PDFX-Change Viewer from Tracker Software, also free, has great range of features for free, including comment and markup tools, an auto-update option, a portable option as well, and though some features found in their paid version are greyed out, you can opt during install to hide those altogether so you're not inconvenienced by them. It also has a nice browser plugin feature that works with Firefox and some others to open a PDF link in a browser tab. I've been very happy with PDFX-Change Viewer since, and won't go back to Foxit or Acrobat. Note: It does also have an option for an Ask toolbar during install, but you can simply opt out of it. Worth checking out their portable version to see if you might prefer it to Foxit Reader. PCWorld has reviewed it in the past, and given it a thumbs up, so you should be able to find out more about it on this site.

Strengths: Nothing in particular
Weaknesses: Shows up as malware when doing a virus/spyware scan
Overall Evaluation: It's no big deal - Adobe's product works just as fast - After getting so many infection messages after running a virus/spyware scan I finally got rid of it with Revo Uninstaller - btw a great product.

Strengths: Small footprint in memory, very fast opening pdf files over a network.
Weaknesses: May not have access to all features of current Acrobat files (but I have never found any that it could not open).
Overall Evaluation: This is an excellent alternative to Acrobat. My office stores large pdf files (from a few MB to over 200MB) on a university WAN. Acrobat would consistently time out on the larger files during hours of peak network use. FoxIt Reader had no problems at all.

Strengths: Small footprint - doesn't take up 100 megs just to install and forever to start up which is typical of most Adobe products.
Weaknesses: As in the PCWorld review - the free version has the aggravating adds and tries to install ask.com toolbar. They still do not have a view option in Outlook mail.
Overall Evaluation: I purchased the paid version a long time ago. This covers all future upgrades. Glad to have it. Never had it crash on me in 2 years of frequent use and never had a file I couldn't open.

Strengths: Isn't the memory hog that Adobe Reader is. I can't imagine ever going back to Adobe.
Weaknesses: I would have given it five (5) stars, but I have come across a FEW, but ONLY a few, PDFs that it couldn't open.
Overall Evaluation: Foxit is the only PDF reader I use anymore. It's an excellent replacement for Adobe Reader. I can't relate to the gripes about it that some other posters have. Watermark? Buggy? Crashes? Pesters you to buy the paid version? I haven't had any of those problems with it myself. It's efficient and relatively fast. As I've said, I can't imagine ever going back to Adobe.

Strengths: Not bloatware
Weaknesses: Does not allow for text selection for copying elsewhere.
Overall Evaluation: Unethical advertising. It's either free or it's not. If one has to purchase the "Pro version" to get rid of the watermark then it's NOT FREE and should not be touted on this website as such. It is NAGWARE.

Strengths: Speed and small memory utilization.
Weaknesses: I agree with many of the other people that say: you have to be careful on installation not to let it load you up with unrelated junk; it frustrates you with numerous features disabled (such as annotation) except in the paid version; leaves an ugly watermark (unless you purchase it); is far more buggy and crashes much more than Adobe; is faster and smaller than Adobe; but for me the feature that renders it unusable is that I regularly log on to web sites that have online Adobe forms to fill out within my browser, and Foxit is not compatible with (is rejected by) those web pages.
Overall Evaluation: Speed and size don't make up for its incompatibilities and unstability.

Strengths: That I still have a copy of an old, free-standing version on hand.
Weaknesses: It tries to load your computer with junk when you install it, and then pesters you to death trying to sell the paid version. The fact that it has to be installed is enough to kill it for me... the old version just sits on the desktop, and when opened once, associates itself with all PDF files on your computer, all you have to do is click on any PDF file, and it opens instantly.
Overall Evaluation: They have ruined a perfectly good little program. Whoever is in charge should be horse-whipped.

Strengths: Not really sure. They say it is a smaller program and more efficient than Adobe Reader.
Weaknesses: The main weakness and the reason I wont install it on any more computers is the update process attempts to give you a bunch of other stuff you don't need, including trial versions of other foxit products. This is unacceptable. People should be able to do program updates without a bunch of hassle so that they can make sure their software is patched as it should be. The way this software updates makes one not want to ever do it. My suggestion for foxit reader and other software developers is make updating EASY. A simple "click" and it updates it with everything you need without including a bunch of junk.
Overall Evaluation: Poor. It doesn't matter how good everything else is. The update process ruins it.

Strengths: Comes up quickly and displays properly.
Weaknesses: Printing speed is verrrry slow. The program re-opens anew for every new pdf file. When Foxit is open and printing nothing else can be worked on. Not much tech support help.
Overall Evaluation: Save your money. Don't even get the free version. To print one page takes a full 60 seconds even to get started. When printing a multi-page document, the print job takes forever and ties up everything else. When a new pdf file is opened, the foxit program opens another session of Foxit.
