Duration of ownership: 6 Months
Strengths: Excellent Blocker, One of the Best if not "The" Best Free or Paid but you do need to be patient, if it is a good firewall it is going to be aggravating to begin with but if you are patient it will learn your software and learn the way you surf and eventually it will not be so obtrusive!!!!!! If you are not patient, no software firewall that is any good will work for you.
Weaknesses: Needs to be easier to learn and better at explaining what it does and how it does it.
Overall Evaluation: Excellent!! As good as any firewall on the market. I test a lot of software and I would put it at the top of all the software firewalls available.

Weaknesses: To many pop ups
Overall Evaluation: Very complex to understand for a average person and help is hard to find. Going back to Zonealarm

Strengths: Very Strong and Ultra-Protective appears to keep EVERYTHING out!
Weaknesses: TOO Motherly for average user as it requires permission to do anything!!! Very Annoying as virtually everything you want to do on the internet requires it to ask your permission and it helps WAY TOO MUCH and hinders productive work.
Overall Evaluation: Needs to be toned down a bit so that users can actually do something on the net without it ALWAYS interfering.

Strengths: The fact that it is free.
Weaknesses: Takes way too long to learn, always popping up and asking the same thing over and over.
Overall Evaluation: Very poor program. Great idea, but poorly written program. Better to pay and know you are protected.

Strengths: it is a very strong firewall
Weaknesses: it takes way too long to shutdown or to restart. i have been trying to use it on an acer aspire 1640z. i had to go back to zonealarm!
Overall Evaluation: it is a very good firewall, if i could just get it to shutdown in less then 2 minutes!

Strengths: none
Weaknesses: the training phase was so frustrating, the incredible number of pop-ups(I counted 96 when downloading a windows update) to check OK on became so insane I un-installed the program and went back to ZoneAlarm.
Overall Evaluation: stick with ZoneAlarm

Strengths: Very powerful...easy to control the firewall....defense+ is very nice!
Weaknesses: Caused about 15 blue screens in a period of four days...seems that it had put a different version of a necessary system file on my Vista Ultimate 64-bit laptop and Windows didn't like that...
Overall Evaluation: Very powerful, but if, after installing, you suddenly start seeing blue screens saying you had a STOP 0x0000007E error and the file causing the error was tdx.sys, uninstall Comodo Firewall Pro and the blue screens go away almost immediately. Otherwise, it's a great firewall that is heavily customizable!

Strengths: Very easy to use and extremely effective. Nice, well organized interface. 'Plays nice' with my router.
Weaknesses: Ummm....no, can't think of any.
Overall Evaluation: Along with Avast antivirus, this must be one of the best FREE software programs that I have ever used. It is easy for beginners to get it up and running but at the same time allows those with a greater knowledge to tweak and adjust things to their liking. Unlike ZoneAlrarm, my router has no problem working with Comodo Firewall Pro. NOTE: As good as the 2.4 version is, you can download the just released 3.0 from the website. Hard to believe but the interface is even BETTER on the newer version. The program will actually give you the option of installing a version for 'beginners' or one for the tweaking experts out there who want maximum security and control. Way to go Comodo!!!

Strengths: A nice piece of software with good reviews and it is effective with a nice interface. Comodo also give you the option of activating it's built in anti virus.
Weaknesses: Quite heavy on system resources and i have noticed a lot of freezing when playing on-line games. after uninstalling this my PC returned back to normal. I am not keen on the built-in anti virus as it listed components to be removed and having removed them i had to do a system restore.
Overall Evaluation: Good product and very effective for it's original intentions although this software may be 'too' powerful for some PC's. This product needs some fine tuning where the anti virus is concerned.

Strengths: This firewall works great for inbound and outbound. I have tested it with many different sites that check to see how invisible your PC is to the Internet and it always passes with flying colors. Some people have said that there are a lot of pop-ups asking if you really want to go to a site using IE. This does happen when you first install it and it learns what you want to do and not do. You can reduce the number of pop-ups by checking "remember this choice" when you allow or disallow the link. It will then remember the choice and not ask again. After you have used it for a while, it just sits and does its job. There are all kinds of options for customizing how it works for those on the geeky side who like to get into the guts of programs like this and customize to their hearts content.
Weaknesses: After using it for over a year, I really don't have any weaknesses to talk about.
Overall Evaluation: I have used Zone Alarm in the past which seems to be a system hog at times. Comodo Personal Firewall does not hog my system resources. It is a free program and has more bells and whistles than most people would care to try to use. For the geeks in some of us, it has a lot of options and customizing to play with. I personally like the program and it has worked very well in the approximately 15 months I have been using it.

Strengths: Easy to configure. Lots of features for a free firewall.
Weaknesses: Keeps giving warning for IE outbound to individual sites. Even after setting changed to allow all inbound and outbound. It became so irritating, I deleted the program and went back to McAfee which is free with Comcast.
Overall Evaluation: I would give it a 3 out of 5 stars. It is big on features with a small footprint. The program loads quickly and does not take up much of the computer's resources. If they can fix that bug about the IE multiple warnings for each site visited, I would give it another try.
